Meet Our Team

Robert Scherer,
President

As President of Next Stage Software Solutions (NS3), Robert Scherer assists NS3 by drawing on his broad experience and industry contacts. Rob has successfully helped clients with annual revenue ranging from one to one hundred million dollars in a wide range of industries, and brings specialized building and development industry knowledge to NS3. Prior to NS3, Rob was the Chief Financial Officer for one of the largest reinforcing steel contractors in California.

Rob is a former president and board member of the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA), a professional association whose mission is to promote the growth and professional development of CFOs and Controllers in the construction industry. He has spoken nationally and locally in over 50 speaking engagements to the Association of General Contractors (AGC), the Building Industry Association (BIA), the Surety Association, the American Subcontractor Association (ASA), the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA), and as the National Electrical Contractor Association (NECA).

Rob graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and a minor in International Business. He holds a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in International Business from San Diego State University.

Steve Bond,
Director

As Director of Next Stage Software Solutions (NS3), Steve Bond is responsible for guiding the company’s overall growth strategies in San Diego County and overseeing customer service and the sales and marketing efforts for the region’s leading provider of project management and estimating computer system solutions for building contractors.

Prior to joining Next Stage, Bond was with Administaff, where he served as a consultant for the sales, business development and client relations. Previously he served as the Vice President of Business Development for PeakCare, Inc. where he was responsible for strategic alliances and developing overall sales strategy.

Bond graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance from San Diego State University. A resident of the Crown Point area, Bond currently serves as president of the San Diego State University Business Alumni Chapter.

Kelli Carper,
Business Development

Kelli's strong construction accounting background gives her the ability to understand the unique needs that must be met in order to manage a construction business. She uses the skills she gained from working in the construction industry to guide and advise business owners and controllers looking for new and better ways to manage their business. Kelli's attention to detail and professionalism help her match the right solution with the right company.

Kelli started her career selling technology, software and training with Gateway Country in San Diego. She then transitioned into the construction arena working for a local General Contractor, managing all of the accounting procedures including billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. From there Kelli did consulting work for subcontractors, developers, and a construction bond agency; managing various accounting and project management procedures for her clients.

Nicole Shull,
Marketing Coordinator

Aside from marketing duties, Nicole plays a key role in supporting sales staff in reaching their goals by working closely with them on developing new strategies and staying keen on the latest trends in software solutions. Nicole's creativity as well as passion for working with people aligns with Next Stage Software Solutions' vision of innovation and high quality customer care. Nicole earned a Bachelor's Degree in Communication from California State University San Marcos and has 7 years experience in construction office management.

Sue Madsen,
Sage Timberline Office Certified Consultant

Sue Madsen is a certified consultant in Construction Accounting. Prior to joining Next Stage Software Solutions (NS3), Sue was the controller for a general contractor, where she selected and implemented Sage Timberline Office. Sue has over 15 years of construction accounting experience.

Sue graduated Magna Cum Laude from California State University San Marcos with a Bachelor of Science, Business Administration - Accounting. After graduating Sue earned the designation of CPA and worked for a large public accounting firm in auditing. Sue has also earned the designation of Professional in Human Resources (PHR) from the Society of Human Resource Management.

Sue is the past President of the San Diego Chapter of the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA). She served on the Board of Directors for six years and remains active in the association.

Tom Esquivel,
Sage Timberline Office Estimating Certified Consultant

Tom grew up in the construction industry. His father was a General Contractor for over 40 years building single family homes, apartments, duplexes, condos, etc. In 1983 they purchased Timberline Software to manage their job cost requirements and union payroll of over 200 employees. Tom has been a Sage Timberline Estimating consultant for over 20 years. Tom specializes in database development, implementation, training, custom report design, and support.
